How an inverter AC is different

A traditional air conditioner is either fully on or fully off. The S-Series uses a variable-speed swing compressor and a variable-speed DC fan, so it slows down when the house only needs a little cooling and speeds up on the hottest afternoons. You get steadier temperatures, fewer hard starts and less wasted electricity. Amana rates the AXV6S up to 17.2 SEER2, in sizes from 1½ to 5 tons, and a field-selectable boost mode raises compressor speed for unusually high loads.

Quiet by design

The AXV6S pairs its variable-speed compressor with a quiet digitally commutated fan motor and a high-density compressor sound blanket, and the cabinet sides are built as sound-control grilles. Its quiet mode offers up to three sound levels, as low as 45 dBA, for evenings and bedtime. Amana publishes normal-mode sound ratings of 61 to 73 dBA depending on size, so the smaller units are the quietest.

A slim unit for tight spaces

The S-Series is a side-discharge unit: the fan blows out the front instead of up through the top, so the cabinet is only about 13 inches deep. Amana rates it for as little as 4 inches of clearance from a wall, and it can sit on a pad or mount on the wall. That helps on narrow side yards, small patios and zero-lot-line homes where a cube-style condenser won't fit well.

AC, heat pump or dual fuel

The AXV6S is the air conditioner; Amana builds a matching S-Series heat pump (the AZV6S) in the same slim cabinet. Paired with a gas furnace, a heat pump becomes a dual fuel system: the heat pump handles mild weather and the furnace takes over on the coldest days. Amana's higher-tier AXV9S (rated up to 19 SEER2, 2 to 5 tons) is also available if you want the most efficient option. How Air Summit installs an S-Series system

We start with a free estimate: we look at the home, the existing equipment, the ductwork and where the outdoor unit will live, then size the system to the house. On install day we protect your floors with shoe covers and drop cloths, set the outdoor unit on its pad or wall bracket, connect the refrigerant lines and wiring, match it to the indoor equipment, then start it up and check it before we leave.

Amana's 10-year unit replacement and 10-year parts limited warranties on the AXV6S require online registration within 60 days of installation. We register the equipment for you and walk you through what's covered.

Residential and commercial

The S-Series is a residential split system, and it's what we recommend for most homes that want efficiency in a small footprint. For shops, restaurants and retail, we handle commercial equipment including rooftop unit changeouts and crane sets.

Hear the difference.

The S-Series inverter compressor ramps up and down instead of slamming on at full blast, so it runs quieter. Amana's sound comparison shows it side by side.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How much does an Amana S-Series system cost?

It depends on the size of the home, the model, and whether you're replacing the AC only, adding a heat pump or doing a full system. Estimates are free, and you get $500 off a new S-Series system when you mention the website ad.

Is the AXV6S quiet?

It's designed to be. The variable-speed compressor and DC fan run slower most of the time, the AXV6S has a high-density compressor sound blanket, and its quiet mode offers up to three sound levels, as low as 45 dBA. Most of the year it hums along instead of kicking on at full blast.

Will it work in a Missouri summer?

Yes. Amana lists the AXV6S cooling operating range from 0°F up to 115°F, and the inverter can speed up during long heat waves. We size the system so it keeps up on the hottest days without short cycling on mild ones.

Can I finance an Amana S-Series system?

Yes. Financing is available at 12.99% for up to 120 months, subject to credit approval through a third-party lender. Payments run about 1.5% of the amount financed per month.

Does it work with a smart thermostat?

The AXV6S is compatible with the Amana Smart Thermostat and other Amana communicating equipment, so the system and thermostat can talk to each other. In communicating mode it needs only two low-voltage wires to the outdoor unit.
